Frequently asked questions
Common questions about DVA Household Services
Can't find what you're after? Get in touch and we'll help directly.
What does this cost me?
Household Services are paid by DVA against your approved entitlement. VHHS doesn't charge you to help you claim or book a service.
Do I need to already be approved by DVA?
No. If approved, upload your determination letter and give us your availability. Otherwise our wizard helps you complete the current six-page D9319. You download, print, personally sign and date it, then email a scan to HHS@dva.gov.au or post it to DVA. VHHS does not lodge it for you, and our help does not oblige you to book services with us.
What services can I book?
Home cleaning, lawn mowing, gardening, window cleaning, gutter cleaning and laundry, where approved by DVA. Meal preparation is not bookable through VHHS.
Do I need a doctor to sign the claim form?
The current six-page D9319 has no treating-doctor sign-off section. You sign and date it yourself, with separate authority and signatures if you nominate a representative. Supporting medical evidence may still be needed separately for DVA to assess your claim.
How long does approval take?
It depends on DVA's assessment of your claim, including medical evidence from your treating doctor. Once approved, you can come straight back here to book your first service.
Is VHHS part of the Department of Veterans' Affairs?
No. VHHS is an independent, veteran-owned service that helps you navigate the DVA Household Services process and book services. We are not DVA and not government-affiliated.
